Please Unsubscribe From My Blog
December 3rd, 2007 by Vlad | Filed under Other (Fom Old Blog). What a strange request, isn’t it? Readership is the life-blood of a blog! Why any one in their sound mind would ever ask their readers to do so, as it it is there are plenty of reasons why people my unsubscribe from a blog. However, I think Darren can now officially ad one more reasons to his lists: #35- people may unsubscribe from your blog if you ask them to do just that.
Recently some event, and in particular my trip to San Francisco (I will write more about my trip later) changed dramatically what consider as a purpose of my life. Since many of you had subscribed to my blog because I have written 450+ posts on this blogs about affiliate marketing and making money on the Internet in general, it would not be prudent on my part not to warn you that I, probably, will never write again on the subject. In fact I am considering revamping my blog, and maybe you still can offer me your suggestions, I will truly appreciate your help.
Since coming back to New Jersey on Friday, I have wrestled on whether or not to keep this blog running or to just simply start another one. I will try to break down the issues I am faced with and hope you can offer me some solid advise.
After being penalized by Google, and even experimenting with banning Google from my website, the page rank is reduced to 0 (zero). (Just in case any big Googler drops by- I no longer sell links on my blog nor do I write paid reviews of any sorts). While the size of the green bar is far from being impressive, my blog, as far as I can see still shares in some good juice-flow. I receive decent traffic from SERPS and since I have put some work over the past year into this blog I am hesitant to leave it behind.
I was contemplating to simply delete 450+ posts and start from the scratch, I really do not intend to ever sell this domain anyway. On one hand, if I were to leave these posts on my blog but never again write about affiliate marketing, I will be starting off with the number of incoming links to my blog that I earned as an affiliate. On the other hand deleting my old posts to start anew I will compromise (at least to some degree) those bloggers who have linked to me in the past- there is nothing worse than to have your visitors landing on a 404 pages.
I can simply abandon this blog without writing a single post. But having an aged domain is beneficial even though Google’s penalties may have been more severe than I have anticipated.
In any event, it would be wise for you to unsubscripted from my blog. I would not want your feed reader to be polluted with articles that you have no interest in.
I have noticed Dan did a few tricks on his blog merging BlogStrokes and archiving older posts. Dan if you are reading this, I would appreciate your expert advise.
Thanks for subscribing to my blog. You will probably still see me reading and commenting on your blogs in the future, for now I just want to say that every one of you have contributed greatly to shape me up as a blogger.
Do not forget to unsubscripted- there will be nothing about affiliate marketing in the future on this blog, unless of course you are interested to see what am I going to write about in the future.

Thanks Josh, you can always count on me for a stumble or two…
I am still not sure about “new name” for my blog. I will just probably stick with my name, you never know I what I am going to be blogging about a year from now
Vlad,
I don’t subscribe to any blog in a reader, but I have yours bookmarked. I won’t remove it. I’m curious to see what you do with it
I respect your decision and I’m sure many others will as well.
Good luck with whatever it is you decide to to!
Josh

Thanks Matt,
I am still struggling to find a solution on how I can archive the old blog. I am really struggling whether or not I should do that. I want to change the name of this blog just simply to “Vlad Zablotskyy”.
I originally planned to move “My Affiliate Journey” to a subdirectory but I have some issues with redirects. There are about 600+ incoming links to this blog and creating 301 redirects would be the right solution. Anyway, I need to simply make a decision and move along.
Your comment actually brought me closer to that decision. You right, it is my blog and I should not be playing around restructuring. Thanks!
hey vlad, what will you be changing to, and what prompted that switch away from affiliate marketing?
No. I’m not going to unsubscribe. I might move the live bookmarks link to general but other than that I have more depth than a single subject.
This is your personal blog and it chronicles your opinions and style over time. When affiliate stuff was your focus then articles on affiliate stuff would be the norm (80%) but now you focus has shifted…
Good luck.
Hey Alvin,
Thanks for stopping by. I am not turning away completely from affiliate marketing. I need that income for now.
My trip to San Francisco helped me to make this decision. The aftermath of abortion was and is very close to my heart and if there is just one person that I can help in the future, my life is well spent.
Thanks for your comment!

Alvin,
Thanks to bringing this to my attention. Two of the plugins were at fault, so I turned them off. Let see if this will change things

By the way Vlad, do you know I get an error whenever I submit a comment? Strangely my comment is recorded even though I’m hit with that error page. Are you getting that too?
Yes it has something to do with on of the plugins but I can’t figure out which one it is. I think it may be the math question plugin.

Lee,
I am going to write, not about affiliate marketing however. And it is not magnetizable as far as I am concerned.
Thanks for taking time to comment on my blog!
Vlad –
You shouldn’t care about what the green bar says. You should care about your traffic because that is where the $$ comes from — not the green bar. Take a moment and step back and think of the many other ways you can generate traffic that do not have anything to do with google. That said if your passion has changed and you just don’t want to write, that’s a whole other issue.

Hi Vlad
Well, I got to this a bit late but I'll stick around my friend
Affiliate marketing and making money gets a bit wearing sometimes so reading about your new direction and passion will make for a refreshing change.
Good luck and keep on writing – I'll keep on reading what you have to say
