Please Unsubscribe From My Blog
December 3, 2007
What a strange request, isn’t it? Readership is the life-blood of a blog! Why any one in their sound mind would ever ask their readers to do so, as it it is there are plenty of reasons why people my unsubscribe from a blog. However, I think Darren can now officially ad one more reasons to his lists: #35- people may unsubscribe from your blog if you ask them to do just that.
Recently some event, and in particular my trip to San Francisco (I will write more about my trip later) changed dramatically what consider as a purpose of my life. Since many of you had subscribed to my blog because I have written 450+ posts on this blogs about affiliate marketing and making money on the Internet in general, it would not be prudent on my part not to warn you that I, probably, will never write again on the subject. In fact I am considering revamping my blog, and maybe you still can offer me your suggestions, I will truly appreciate your help.
Since coming back to New Jersey on Friday, I have wrestled on whether or not to keep this blog running or to just simply start another one. I will try to break down the issues I am faced with and hope you can offer me some solid advise.
After being penalized by Google, and even experimenting with banning Google from my website, the page rank is reduced to 0 (zero). (Just in case any big Googler drops by- I no longer sell links on my blog nor do I write paid reviews of any sorts). While the size of the green bar is far from being impressive, my blog, as far as I can see still shares in some good juice-flow. I receive decent traffic from SERPS and since I have put some work over the past year into this blog I am hesitant to leave it behind.
I was contemplating to simply delete 450+ posts and start from the scratch, I really do not intend to ever sell this domain anyway. On one hand, if I were to leave these posts on my blog but never again write about affiliate marketing, I will be starting off with the number of incoming links to my blog that I earned as an affiliate. On the other hand deleting my old posts to start anew I will compromise (at least to some degree) those bloggers who have linked to me in the past- there is nothing worse than to have your visitors landing on a 404 pages.
I can simply abandon this blog without writing a single post. But having an aged domain is beneficial even though Google’s penalties may have been more severe than I have anticipated.
In any event, it would be wise for you to unsubscripted from my blog. I would not want your feed reader to be polluted with articles that you have no interest in.
I have noticed Dan did a few tricks on his blog merging BlogStrokes and archiving older posts. Dan if you are reading this, I would appreciate your expert advise.
Thanks for subscribing to my blog. You will probably still see me reading and commenting on your blogs in the future, for now I just want to say that every one of you have contributed greatly to shape me up as a blogger.
Do not forget to unsubscripted- there will be nothing about affiliate marketing in the future on this blog, unless of course you are interested to see what am I going to write about in the future.
