PRWeb may be better than AdWords?

October 25, 2006 – 6:55 am

I the past have have used once PRWeb services to promote one of my web sites. At that time PRWeb still had a free service option but I have used a $40 submission option. At the time I was not so impressed with the results, but today I have read something that may change my mind.

Janet has posted this outstanding article about her “PRWeb Experiment“. If you have a minute it will be well worth reading.

Probably even pay per click advertising can not compete with what PRWeb can offer you. According to Janet’s post a $200 submission will produce about 70,000 “reads”. Mind you that PRWeb can only account for the times your article was read at PRWeb, I guess you can add a few “reads” from the websites that republished your press released.

But just think about these numbers 70,000 reads means that single “read” cost you about $0.00285. Lowest possible cost for pay per click at Google is $0.01, until of course your “quality score” goes down, which usually overnight. MSN and Yahoo is no longer offer $0.01 per click and their minimum is $0.05 and $0.10 per click respectfully.

Anyway, Janet’s article convinced me to give PRWeb another try.

  2. But they can be 1-time readers. I would suggest paying that money to get permenant links from high-Pagerank directories or blogs. This way, you can always assure a constant flow of readers from Search Engines.
