Weekend Book Review: The Everlasting Man

Date December 9, 2007

Flying to San Francisco for the conference “Reclaiming Fatherhood”, I’ve had chance to read a real book once again. I really like reading books, however last six months my only reading material was Internet.

I absolutely love wirings of Gilbert Keith Chesterton. He captivates me the moment I pick any of his books, and so far every book I’ve read were the best books I’ve ever read in my life. This time around it was The Everlasting Man- I highly recommend this book to my readers, especially if you can not reconcile theory of evolution with my faith. Just a word of waning, this book can completely ruin your trust or faith in the theory of evolution. In other words, if you believe primates to be your distance relatives, this book is not for you.

In the first chapters of this work Chesterton eloquently argues that theory of evolution is based “wild imagination” of pseudo-scientists rather than on evidence and facts. He also points out that even the term “Missing Link” (aka transitional fossil) that Darwin himself used in a negative sense, evolutionists have misinterpreted in a positive sense. In fact Darwin have admitted that absence of a that transitional fossil is the greatest obstacle for his theory.

Great reading for the times when you wonder about man’s destiny, faith and God.
