Approximately 10 months ago, my article regarding Monomakhos managed to ruffle some feathers, resulting in an interesting occurrence shortly thereafter. I received an unusual email from an individual who identified themselves as Gail Sheppard, although I won’t reveal the other recipients at this time. I was carbon copied on this message. The content of the email was rather peculiar, claiming that the members of Monomakhos have “sources” within Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers who diligently monitor my activities and report back to Gail. Furthermore, it was alleged that I was violating the law by impersonating their blog across various online platforms. The email even included a veiled threat to involve legal counsel.
Given the bizarre nature of the email, I decided to reach out to George Michalopulos, providing him with an opportunity to confirm whether someone had indeed impersonated Gail via the aforementioned email. However, I never received any such confirmation. On the contrary, the authors of Monomakhos opted to include my website in their list of “Bad Actors.” I suppose it takes one to know one.
Putting sarcasm aside, I would like to thoroughly examine, document and shed light on the entire email in question. This process will require multiple posts.
Today, I want to explore the topic of megalomania—a delusional belief in one’s personal omnipotence and grandeur. This is precisely how the email from someone pretending to be Gail Sheppard commenced:
We were warned by one of the parishioners under V. Rev. Volodymyr of Holy Trinity in Yonkers, that this priest might try to hurt us in some way based on remarks he has made to his community.
Laughable and sad at the same time. No one in Yonkers parish has heard of Monomakhos. Writing these articles, tagged under “Monomakhos Fiasco”, is a waste of time enough… But I am doing so to send a clear message to Gail and George that I will not be intimidated.
It is hard to believe that someone as intelligent as Gail Sheppard could have written such an email. Perhaps it is someone impersonating her. But I will never know the answer, will I George?
