Contra Monomakhos: About Those “Five Good Reasons NOT to Visit a Monastery”

Talk about nonsense!

According to someone claiming to be Gail Sheppard, I am guilty of a terrible crime because in 2011 Monomakhos published an article titled “Five Good Reasons NOT to Visit a Monastery” which still can be found at the following URL – https://www.monomakhos.com/five-good-reasons-not-to-visit-a-monastery/. According to the email I received, I created the above website to discredit Monomakhos – after all everyone in the world knows they are supporting monasteries and no such nonsense would have come from them:

He made good on that threat by taking the banner of our website to entice readers to a site he created where he posts articles that look like they are from us but are from him.  I’m sure in the example below you can understand our concern that readers would think this sort of nonsense came from us, as we are known for supporting monasteries.

None of this makes sense unless, of course, someone pretending to be Gail believes that I own http://links.giveawayoftheday.com/. The only other explanation would be that I own https://www.monomakhos.com/.

As to the above-mentioned article, it is still found on Momonakhos Blog as of this writing. If, as it often happens, the article is removed, it will appear on Archive.org for the years to come. Over at Monomakhos blog, this article is filed under the category “+JOHNAH The Record”, which of course makes sense as the article was originally written by then Hieromonk Jonah for the winter 1999 issue of Again Magazine, Conciliar Press.

In any event, the accusation that I created a Monomakos “look-alike” website is complete nonsense.
